Tuesday’s trout release at Mapleton Road in Wandsworth (reported here in the Wandsworth Guardian) featured a very colourful display of banners by pupils at Honeywell Primary School – the children had written songs and poems to celebrate the day when the young fish entered the River Wandle for the first time.
With the Mayor of Wandsworth in attendance as well as pupils from six different local schools, the fingerlings had a fine send off – a few tears were even shed.
This year’s Wandle Trust Trout in the Classroom trout releases are now complete, with ceremonies also having taken place last week at Morden Hall Park and yesterday in Carshalton.
Further fantastic work from all the Team on the Wandle.
Thanks
Andy
