Despite the damp weather, we still managed to clean two stretches of the Wandle in Hackbridge: the very pretty eastern branch of the river downstream from Culvers Avenue and the littered stretch just south of Goat Road and Middleton Road.
The weather could not dampen the enthusiasm of our youngest volunteers. We were very pleased that these two persuaded mum to come along too!
They were delighted to find a shopping trolley and an oar.
The second stretch was blitzed by a number of hardy individuals after the very wet tea/coffee break. This pile was gathered in just over an hour!
We are very grateful to Sutton Council for collecting the rubbish from the two dumping sites. Those that were not too bedraggled retired to the Goat pub for some welcome refreshment.
Thanks to all our volunteers: Americo, Bruce, Craig, David, Diana, Dulcie, Duncan, Ed, Emilio, Erica, Gill, Georgina, Ion, Jamie, Jane, Jo, Julie, Nathanial, Nick M, Nick Sp, Nigel, Ollie, Peter T, Rachel, Richard, Rigby, Rob, Rory, Sarah, Theo, Tim and Younis.
