At this cleanup we were very concerned that we might drown the Mayor of Sutton and his wife! Egged on by a photographer from the Croydon Advertiser, they gamely put on waders and got stuck in.
Most of the action on this clean up in Beddington Park was in the water, trying to drag logs, wood and other rubbish out of the deep silt. Progress was slow, challenging, mucky and wet. Despite not clearing a large volume of rubbish our efforts should enable the water to flow more freely. Help from the Friends of Beddington Park was also very welcome.
After we’d all dried out a bit, there were smiles all round and a few drinks were supped at the nearby Duke of York.
Thanks to all our volunteers: Alan, Andrew, Andy, Dee, Erica, Freya, George, Gideon, Gill, Gwen, Ion, Jane, Mark C, Nick, Niki, Peter T, Richard, Rigby, Rob T, Sarah-Jane, Susan and Theo
